Therefore in Point-7 we have decided to develop dedicated masts to enhance the performance of our foil sails, exclusively for those who don’t want compromises in performance.

WHY THIS MAST:
A foil sail goes smooth over water and the mast does not need to have the reflex of a slalom sail but needs to increase stability of the rig to help keep the balance of the foil.
The way a foil sail is cut is to have no back hand and if the mast can follow this characteristic, it will offer the sail a bigger range.
The fact that the luff lengths of foil sails are different to the slalom sails, the reinforcements can follow the luff curve needs to enhance performance in the different areas of the sail.
Generally, a foil mast can be stiffer in the IMCS to lock in forward the profile of the sail, reducing drastically the power of the back hand. Exactly the opposite to a fin sail.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE A FOIL MAST IN A FIN SAIL?
The profile will increase in the front and therefore the pressure point will go more to the front, meaning that the power will be taken out from the back hand. When this happens on the water the sail will feel more dead as you won’t be able to push the power to the fin to accelerate and you will lose stability and wind range capacity. The sail will feel stiffer and not reactive. We don’t advice to use a foil mast on a fin sail.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE A FIN MAST IN A FOIL SAIL?
The sail will work well till the wind will not be powered up. At that moment, the backhand power will increase, and the stability of the foil will be less. The wind range will be less when powered and some of the stability lost also in the easier conditions. We still advice to use it if you will not be interested in a dedicated mast.

Thanks to update of new machineries, we were able to work out a new finish from our masts and introduce new technology in the constructions.
MASTOUR MAST
Most of the masts might look the same, but often produced by different manufactures with different machinery, materials, climates, and technology, even if the curve or Imcs numbers might be the same, the performance outcome once down hauled in a sail, will be different. Being the backbone of your windsurfing sail, it makes a very important accessory for the rig. The same as having a suit tailor made. A large 9m slalom sails have different qualities and performance characteristics from a 5m slalom sail which is used in strong wind. The curve and stiffness of the mast needs to be developed accordingly. Most of the masts on the market are constant curve, but this is only a general term to explain the characteristics. What is important is the curve percentages values of the bottom and top sections of the mast, including materials, shapes, and reflex. These are values which are very different in each sail brand, and often kept secret. Therefore, the best efficiency is reached by having an integrated rig.

Point-7 je vzrušující příběh, který se začal psát v roce 2005 díky vizionáři Andreovi Cucchimu. Když spatřil obrovský potenciál pro inovaci a obnovení zájmu o windsurfing v nové generaci, rozhodl se vykročit směrem k tomuto ambicióznímu cíli.
Jeho odvaha spojila osobní výzvu s podnikatelským duchem. Chtěl vytvořit zbrusu novou značku, která by dokázala konkurovat gigantům na trhu windsurfingového vybavení a získat uznání na světové windsurfingové scéně, včetně prestižní PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association).
Příběh začíná v okamžiku, kdy Andrea nemohl naskočit do letadla na svou plánovanou akci v Turecku. Letadlo náhle změnilo trasu a jeho vybavení se do něj nevešlo. Místo zoufalosti využil tento nečekaný volný čas k zahájení svého projektu. Oslovil tři lidi s otázkou, zda by mohli podpořit jeho nápad. Možná se ne všichni přidali k projektu, ale všichni sdíleli nadšení pro vytvoření něčeho nového a odvážného.
Zvláště jeho otec, Roberto Cucchi, stál u zrodu této nové značky a nadále ji podporuje. Jeho zkušenosti a vášeň jsou stále klíčovými pilíři společnosti Point-7. Roberto zůstává aktivní a stále přináší nové nápady, které pomáhají posouvat tuto značku vpřed.
Point-7 je tak příběhem odvahy, odhodlání a rodinného ducha, který spojil vizionářského syna s podnikavým otcem, aby vytvořili značku, která dnes patří mezi špičky ve světě windsurfingu.
